Camping...Is it too dangerous for Mom?

We will find out this weekend.

Keagan has been camping and fishing quite a few times with Andrew in the past couple of years. They have gone to a couple of different guys weekends and to a father's & Sons campout, but we have never been camping together as a family. We are trying to remedy that by going on our first camping trip as a family (also my second camping experience in about 12 years).

Andrew and Keagan went on their first camping trip this year to the Fathers & Sons campout at the end of June. A few weeks later Andrew and I asked Keagan if we should all go on a camping trip together and he looked at us and said, "No, mom, it's too dangerous for you". Now, everytime we talk to him about going camping he tells us that it is too dangerous for me and Deker and that we can't go.

So...Despite Keagan's warning, we are going to attempt our first family camping trip this weekend. Hopefully we will come home safe and happy and Keagan will realize that it isn't too dangerous for me.

I did it!

There have been a couple of sewing projects that I have wanted to do for the past couple of months, but never got around to doing. One was a skirt for me. I had found a free tutorial on the internet for how to make one using a skirt that you already have. The other project was some ties for the boys, also a free pattern and instructions that I found on the internet. I was just waiting to get some material. So when I received a 50% off coupon in the mail for JoAnne (a fabric/craft store), I decided now would be a good time to make the skirt.

When I finished the skirt and realized that I had a fair amount of material left, I decided that I would try making the little boys some ties. I am pleased with how everything turned out, especially it being my first time making these things. Keagan, Deker and I wore our new things to church. Here are some pictures we took before we left.

For those of you that are interested, here are the links for the patterns I used. For my skirt I used the tutorial on V & Co. for her Tablecloth Skirt. Although, I didn't have a tablecloth so I just used fabric. For the boys' ties I used the pattern and instructions from The Purl Bee for Little Boys Ties. I did make quite a few changes to the ties I made to make them more kid friendly and I sewed all of it with a machine.

Keagan & Deker

I can't believe how fast my boys are growing up. Sometimes I wish they would slow down just a little. About a week after Deker got the fire truck for his birthday, before we designated these two toys as outside toys, here is how Keagan was helping Deker play.
I am not sure if you can tell or not, but that is Keagan pulling Deker around the house while also riding his truck. What a helper.

It mostly fun, but also frustrating at other times, to see how these two boys interact with each other. When Deker is doing something that Keagan thinks he should be doing, like crawling up the stairs, Keagan says "Deker no, don't go up the stairs! Momma take care of it".

I love my boys and hope that they will always love each other.

I love Couponing!!!!!

As most of you might know, I started couponing a few months ago and I am still love it. It is so exciting to me to plan out my couponing adventures, go to the store and get a lot of stuff for really cheap (sometimes free). Back in may, I did a post about a coupon trip that I did and have tried really hard to refrain from doing it again, but I can't help myself. This was too good of a couponing trip not to take a picture and post about.
On this trip, I went to a couple different Albertsons so that I wouldn't buy clear one stores shelves of Salad Dressing. Here is what is in the picture:
20 bottles of Kraft Salad Dressing (we cook with Salad dressing a lot)
6 containers of yogurt
6 boxes of hot/lean pockets
4 bottles of Ragu
1 bottle BBQ Sauce
1 box of Crystal Light
2 bottles of Spray N Wash
2 Nature Valley Nut Clusters
All of this should have cost me $108, but I bought it all for $18.43!!!!! What was even more exciting to me was that the 20 bottles of Salad Dressing cost me $3.10 and I know have quite the stockpile of Salad Dressing. As Andrew could attest, I could not contain my excitement when I got home.
